Exercise, lose weight and have great sex

Written by Biodun Ogungbo - Punch, Nigeria.

First, a joke.

A fat man saw an advertisement that said, “Lose 5kg in a week.”

He made a phone call and said, “I would like to join!” The lady who responded welcomed the idea and asked him to be ready 6am the following day.

The following morning, he got to the gym and was taken to a room. He opened the door and found a beautiful woman there clad in only a shirt and underpants.

She said, “If you can catch me, you can sleep with me!” The lady started running, while the man started to run after her. But he could not catch her. During the whole week, he tried hard to catch her but could not. He, however, lost 5kg in the process!

He then asked for the 10kg programme. The next time, he opened the door and found another woman clad in a bikini who said, “If you catch me, you can sleep with me.”

He lost 10kg that week although he did not catch the woman. So, he thought this was an awesome programme and then requested the 25kg weight loss programme.
The lady said, “Are you sure? It’s really tough!”

“Why not?”, he asked. The following day at 6am, he opened the door expecting to see a totally naked girl. But he found a mad woman instead.
The mad woman said, “If I catch you, I will sleep with you!”
That week, the man lost 40kg.

Walk and run

There is a growing interest in exercise and fitness, at least in Abuja. A few more people are taking to the streets in the morning to walk and run. This is a good development and I wish even more people would develop such an active interest in their own health. The benefits are legion – apart from prevention of strokes, heart attacks and sudden death.

For one, it makes you to be lean and mean. You lose the tyres around the midriff, stomach and bottom. The legs are stronger and your strides better. It also strengthens the health of the heart, making it work more efficiently.

One single stroke and blood is pumped to all the relevant parts of the body, especially the brain. The heart rate will also slow down, as it will be able to do more with less. This is why the heart rates of athletes are usually low and the heart rates of elderly people much higher than normal.

Early morning run, jog or walk has the added benefit of allowing you to breath in fresh air. The air in the morning has not yet been diluted and polluted with smell and smoke. It is fresh and damp – great for the lungs and I will encourage you to take in as much as you can.

Great fun

One other benefit is that we get to laugh! I had a great laugh last Saturday morning and I will share the fun with you in this article. First, I got into the car and drove to the junction to secure a vantage position from where I could observe the ‘sporting’ activities on the road. On this road in Abuja, many people come to jog or exercise on Saturday mornings. I will not mention the street so as not to spoil the fun.

The first person I saw jogging was a young woman with ample reserves. Though she was moving in a straight line, different parts of her body had momentums and directions of their own. The breasts were the major culprit as they were definitely not in rhythm and seemed to be quarrelling with each other.

Then, I saw a young man using an electricity pole as practice target. I did think for a while that perhaps he thought it was a human he was fighting and I half expected him to head-butt the pole. It took me a little while to realise that he was actually not serious and was only doing cheap exercise on the street.

A couple then strolled into view. Walking briskly in a power-walk, they definitely stole the show and caught my attention for a long while. They wore the same T-shirt and seemed happy together. They walked, talked, and seemed to be really enjoying being together.
This is important. A stroll with your spouse in the morning creates warmth, affection and beauty. It allows you to communicate and not just ‘talk’ while enjoying the beauty of the world. It is an opportunity to connect really. It is refreshing and stimulating, creating even more love in the relationship. It improves stamina and should do wonders for your sex life.
Improves sex life

For men especially, strength training could be just what the doctor ordered for your sex life. Weight lifting causes the body to produce testosterone, which is the primary precursor for the male sex drive.

To improve your sex life, do some push-ups, sit-ups, and crunches. These muscle-building exercises can lead to better sex by strengthening the shoulders, chest, and abs. Strong upper body strength can increase stamina since these muscles are used during intercourse.
For women, regular exercise boosts circulation, tones the body, and primes the brain for sexual satisfaction. It gets your blood flow pumping, which not only creates rosy cheeks, but also improves arousal. Lubrication, genital sensation, and the tingle of sexual excitement are all fuelled by good blood flow.

In conclusion, exercise has a number of amazing, life-changing benefits. It can help to prevent depression, heart disease, and diabetes, and it can fend off weight gain and improve circulation and lung capacity.

Exercise improves your sex life and you get the additional benefit of living long to enjoy even more sex. That may even be the secret to increasing the life expectancy in Nigeria.
So, that is another great reason to walk and run in the mornings. In fact, I should stop driving to this vantage point. Shouldn’t I?
